This recommendation, delivered by First Vice President of the National Assembly, Mr. Cheam Yeap, during the 45th anniversary commemoration of the riel's reintroduction on March 20, aims to ensure coordinated policy implementation across sectors to promote riel usage.
Despite Cambodia's projected transition to upper-middle-income status by 2030 and high-income status by 2050, the National Bank of Cambodia reports that the economy remains heavily dollarized, with over 80% reliance on the US dollar and only 15-20% riel circulation.
