Empowering Regional Excellence: Cambodia Microfinance Association Launches the International Training & Study Exposure Program 2026

Empowering Regional Excellence: Cambodia Microfinance Association Launches the International Training & Study Exposure Program 2026

As the microfinance and banking sector continues to navigate a fast-evolving digital landscape and dynamic economic shifts, capacity building, transparency, and consumer trust remain paramount. Reinforcing its ongoing commitment to a sustainable microfinance sector, the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) proudly introduces an International Training & Study Exposure Program 2026.

Designed as an immersive platform for financial-sector professionals, this flagship initiative bridges theory and practice, offering participants an exclusive look into Cambodia’s resilient and internationally recognized microfinance ecosystem.

The program aims to equip financial professionals with practical insights into Cambodia's regulatory environment, benchmark core institutional practices, strengthen responsible lending and NPL management, explore digital transformation, elevate branch leadership, and build lasting international professional networks.

A "Learning Through Direct Exposure" Model

Moving beyond traditional classroom settings, the 2026 program utilizes a dynamic “learning through direct exposure” methodology. Over an intensive 4-to-5-day operational window, senior management and technical practitioners from financial institutions will engage in a blended learning journey.

The program covers an extensive curriculum ranging from regulatory frameworks, credit risk management, and NPL reduction to FinTech transformation, cybersecurity, responsible lending, and strategic branch and human resource management.

The curriculum strategically integrates:

·       International Expert-Led Training Sessions: Deep dives into regulatory frameworks, market evolution, and sustainable growth strategies.

·       Head Office & Branch Study Visits: On-the-ground operational observation showcasing how Cambodian institutions successfully manage scale, governance, and efficiency.

·       Direct Client Engagements: Real-world interactions highlighting customer-centric practices, financial literacy impact, and inclusive growth.

·       Peer-to-Peer Knowledge Exchange: Collaborative dialogue addressing common regional hurdles—ranging from delinquency management to digital adaptation.

Program Roadmap & Key Deliverables

Tailored for approximately 20 to 30 senior delegates, the program ensures personalized engagement and high-value networking. Beyond field visits and training workshops, participants will partake in a dedicated Reflection & Adaptation Workshop designed to help them translate observations into actionable strategies.

Every delegate will walk away with:

·       A concrete, customized Institutional Action Plan to implement back home.

·       Comprehensive training and presentation materials.

·       A recognized Certificate of Participation.

·       Access to an expanded international professional network for ongoing cross-border cooperation.

Get Involved & Secure Your Spot

As dates and destinations for the 2026 program are finalized, CMA invites interested member institutions and regional stakeholders to prepare for this unique professional growth opportunity. Participation fees and logistical arrangements will be tailored based on the final itinerary design.

Upon completion, participants are expected to return with firsthand operational insights, innovative strategies in credit and digital finance, a stronger commitment to customer protection, an expanded professional network, and a concrete institutional action plan to successfully implement their newfound knowledge back home.
