The IDG Banking and Finance Cambodia conference took place on 9 - 10 February 2012. During the conference a number of microfinance topics were presented by different MFI representatives. A panel discussion was then conducted with Mr. Say Sony (Prasac), Dr. Bun Mony (Sathapana), and Mr. Rath Sarun (HKL).

Microfinance Network Information Exchange at Dec-2011

Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia have continued to show significant growth and we recognize that it has made a successful contribution to the economic development of Cambodia. As the data of December 2011 collected from 28 MFIs and 2NGOs gain with the data of December 2010, it demonstrated that a total of borrower increased 16%, loan outstanding increased 51%, depositor increased 48%, deposit balance increased 180%, number of employee increased 25% and Non-Performing Loans (NPL) declined 79% ( from 1.07% to 0.22%).

The 6 Annual General Assembly on January 20, 2012

On January 20th, 2012 Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) hosted the 6th Annual General Assembly at the Cambodiana Hotel attended by 31 leaders who from 24 MFIs and CMA.

Impact of Microfinance Services in Cambodia

The Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA), with 50% funding from CMA Members and 50% from FMO, commissioned the Cambodia Institute of Development Study (CIDS) to conduct an assessment on the impact of microfinance services in Cambodia. The purpose of the study is to understand if microfinance has positively contributed to the socioeconomic improvement of borrowers.
